...let me introduce myself, most people call me Olive or some variation of that. You've seen me from my big sis' perspective on this blog, but I've recently turned 1 year old, and thus have found my blogging voice. Although, I mostly do animal sounds or say things like mama, dada, sissy, etc...you'll be surprised that I actually have a quite extensive vocabulary in the world of blogging. I'm a lot different than my big sis, I'm pretty low drama, low maintenance and have decided to use humor to steal any needed attention. I look forward to providing my perspective of the world on this blog.

I'm finally a four year old! Yesterday I woke up, looked in the mirror, and said, "Mom, I don't look like a four year old". I looked the same as the night before when I went to bed! Although, I have been trying to convince my mom and dad that my arms and legs have really gotten long, and that I would be a great hurdler someday...

So, my bday started out just right. I opened my first present when I woke up, which included pop tarts and tic tacs...what a way to start out the day!

Then, my mom took my sis and I to Starbucks, and we actually got to go inside instead of driving through! And we saw our good friend Stephie there...

My mom made me that cool sash so everyone immediately knew it was my bday!

Then, I had a great day at school with my friends, then came home and opened my other present...a Cinderella dress! My parents took me to Red Robin with my good friend, Kate...and I wore my new dress. Every princess needs to get a free bday ice cream sundae and have all the servers sing an annoying song off key.

And since I'm four now, I found the courage to give the nasty big Red Robin costume guy (I despise people in freakish costumes), a high five...well, I reared back and gave the best high five I could...and swatted my ice cream sundae on to the ground shattering it to pieces! Luckily, no fake animals were harmed. I was just a little mortified.

I fell asleep watching the Olympics....just as I did 4 years ago when I was only one day old. It feels good to be a four year old!

so, we just got back from our alaska adventure and i can truly say i've been cured of my urbanitis. when we got there, i was quite the city slicker, finding it hard to wear rain boots everywhere, not wear dresses often, pick up things off the beach, and yes, get dirty. by the time we left, i had formed a special bond with my trusty rain boots, got sand in my hair on the beach, picked up animal bones and bird feathers, and almost kissed a fish! here's a video, i'm sure i'll post more soon...

the perfect weekend...

We packed our weekend full of the perfect memories! Here's how it started...

We had breakfast with nana and grandpa at Donnie Mac's Trailer Park Cuisine. Any place that has Pop Tarts and YooHoo's on the menu is my kind of place!

Then, grandpa and I went on the paddle boats at the park and counted 13,763,454 ducks and geese! That's a lot!

The next day, I went to my first real baseball game with my cousin and some friends. We had peanuts and sno cones and sang "take me out to the ball game". The only thing that would have made it better is if it were the Red Sox!
And then we went to the zoo with my cousins! The gibbon monkeys put on a good show for us, but I really loved the snow leopard...and I got to introduce my pink ballerina princess snow leapord "Katie" to the one that inspired her. She was really excited!

Olivia had fun practicing her animal sounds and clapping for the monkeys. We pretty much loved our entire weekend!

can i just say...naps are so overrated! my mom makes me take one every day, and i really don't have time for such things. so, i do everything i can to keep myself awake during nap time, like sing, look through books...and today, i did a quick wardrobe change! i know my mom gets kind of frustrated that i'm not into this whole nap thing, so i thought i would give her a good laugh when she came in to check on me. i put my snow suit on in the middle of JULY! it was actually quite comfy to sleep in...

imagine my excitement when i found a silly looking green thing crawling across our patio...ok, i'm not a big fan of bugs. but, it was interesting and my mom told me it was a caterpillar! we got out a big jar, filled it with dirt, bark, grass, and branches with leaves, and captured the caterpillar. we were so excited to watch this ugly bug make a cocoon, then turn into a beautiful butterfly! but then my mom decided to do some research...she found on the internet that caterpillars are very particular about the kind of leaves they eat, and would rather starve than eat the wrong kind. we couldn't figure out what the darn thing liked to eat, so in our compassionate hearts, decided to free the little guy/girl. it was fun to have a new friend for a day!

this was our first parade experience, and sticking with the theme "real dairy", we were a band called "the holy cows". we sang super fun songs about Jesus and invited everyone to our Vacation Bible Experience. i really felt like a rockstar and rocked the pink guitar all night!

mom and dad took me to build-a-bear for the first time, just because they love me. here i am with my new friend. she's a pink snow leopard and i named her kaysia (after my swim teacher). then i remembered that my b.f.f kate's favorite animal is a snow leopard, so i changed her name to kate. my mom talked me out of the disney princess outfit for her, and so i picked a satin fushia dance outfit and ballet slippers...i'm pretty sure i have something that will match that! we shall be good friends!

this is something my sis has grown fond of...crawling into places she can't get out of, like under her high chair. we've had some really good discussions while she's stuck under the high chair, waiting for mom to come rescue her. like what our favorite colors are, and if Sharpay is nicer than Gabriella, and what kind of pretend food we should cook for dinner in our play kitchen...good times!

it's official! me and my sis finally passed the test, and fell asleep for nap time in the same room! mom's tried this before, and we just giggle and talk and keep each other awake. although there was a good amount of giggling, mom seemed more determined this time...and after some threats, we both shushed up and fell asleep. well, at least i did. i'm not sure sis ever did sleep. apparently not, from the photo. looking forward to many more nap times and night times of together giggli...i mean, sleeping:)

Yay for Ballet!!

It's official...I am now a professional ballerina, in training. I train every Wednesday, with aspirations of being the star of the stage soon! This is me lining up with the other ballerinas, with our hands on our hips. We then enter our studio and tell our teacher, "Hello Miss Eliza", with a curtsy.

After my first ballet lesson, my mom took me and Olivia to get a gourmet cupcake... and let me drink some of her chai latte! Oh, how I love ballet!

Since it's been so long since I last posted, I thought I would update you on a few things I've done...had an amazing Christmas, built a snowman, went sledding, went to Buhl for the holidays, moved to a new house, was a flower girl in my good friend Naphtali's wedding (in which I got to be a ballerina for that as well), played lots with my imaginary friend Carly, put lip gloss on my sister, played dress up...a lot, went to a hockey game, and fed my sister cereal for the first time. Whew, it's been a busy winter! I really should post more...my new year's resolution!

The New Generation of Red Sox Nation

Curse of the Bambino who? 1914 what? They're saying the 2007 World Series was won by Boston for a new generation of Red Sox fans...my fellow diaper-wearing, field of dreaming friends that will give the rest of their lives to following and supporting the BLUE and RED. We may not know a lot about the sport or the history of our beloved team, but we endeavor to be true fans!

The 2004 World series was won for our great grandparents (especially for my 90 year old great grandma Evelyn Murray who is the biggest Sox fan in the history of baseball)...who suffered 90 years of world series drought.

That sweet success was the so many things for that faithful generation. But this year's victory is just the start of a new era, and a new hope for me and my little sis as we cheer for the best team in baseball!

I've anxiously waited for the leaves to start falling off the trees, for the air to grow crisp...and my first chance at claiming a pumpkin. And of course, faux painting it with an assortment of glitter paints:) Here are me and my very best friends partaking in the bliss of fall fun...painting pumpkins and decorating fall cookies.

Kai preferred to mix all the colors, creating a deep auburn...good choice for the season.

Bubba tasted a little of the paint...maybe that's why he couldn't take a nap that day.

Sissy Jo also did a great job of tasting paints.

The Emma's did a great job of beautifying their pudgy orange masterpieces.

And after a few days when the layers of paint finally dried, we all got to enjoy what nature has offered us during this fine fall season!

she's finally here!! and it's everything I dreamed it would be. she is so cute, and she has my face! that's the first thing I said when I saw her. and there's no better person to share a striking resemblence with:) i'm now impatiently waiting for her to grow up...in fact, i asked my mom this morning if she's grown up enough now to walk. it just seems like it will be a lot more fun when she can do everything I tell her to do. but for now, I'll just enjoy giving her kisses, feeling her soft, soft skin, helping change her diapers (well, not so much enjoy that part, but I'll do it), and helping my mom decide her daily wardrobe. i've tried to style her hair, but she's just not quite ready for ponytails. let's just say...i'm pretty much in love!

You're looking at the 2007 CCC 4th of July Family Picnic Baking Contest Champion! That's right, my first big win:) My mom couldn't compete in the volleyball tournament this year (since she's prego and all), and she really wanted something competitive to do...so she entered me in the Baking Contest. Most people said she cheated because she manipulated the judges with a really cute picture of me in my chef's hat and apron, but I know those lemon bars were out of this world! Star spangled lemon bars were my award winning entry. And most of you know I have the gourmet kitchen to produce such high quality delectable desserts.

Other than perfecting my prize winning recipe, my summer has been super fun! Lots of swimming and playing outside...and enjoying my last couple months with my parents all to myself (I'm still excited for my baby sister, but not too excited for the attention she'll probably get). My dad is teaching me how to play catch, and has made me a spaceball fan...but I'll save that for another blog. Peace out!

My Little Sis...

Here SHE is, world! My future protege:) I think God heard my prayers. I will soon have someone to show the ropes to...of how to be one cute, talented, and amazing little girl! There are many lessons I am preparing for my little sis.... #1. How to apply lip gloss. #2. How to walk in Mom's high heels. #3. How to choose the appropriate tiara for everyday fashion. #4. How to include ballet in your daily workout. And of course, #5. How to be better at the boys in sports, intellectual debates, and pretty much everything!

Even though they are kinda shocked, I think my parents are already in love! Dad said something about now having to pay for two weddings, and mom said something about needing to stock up on lip gloss, but overall, I know they are excited. I can't wait for August!!

Just wanted to introduce you to my new little bubba or sissy, and my new best friend...Baby Tiny One!!! My mom tells me this is what I'm getting for my 3rd birthday (supposed to come just a week after my bday), which I'm actually really excited about. I feel like I have so much experience from taking care of my baby dolls, and all my friends like Ethan and Eden and Jack. I'm sure my mom will pick me to be the number one babysitter! Oh, the things we will do, Baby Tiny One. You're gonna love it!

Ellie-the Sports Analyst on the BIGGEST GAME ever!

Who says cheerleaders don't know a lot about football? Well, last Monday, I experienced what could be argued to be the greatest moment in college football history. My Daddy's team, Go Broncos, introduced Cinderella to Lady Liberty. The result was part fairy tale, part American Dream come true.

So, I've never heard so many men talk about Cinderella before. I thought that was a chick flick!? But Boise State sure did show those evil stepsisters who wears the prettiest gown! (I'm just learning about metaphors, so I'm not really sure if this is appropriate...oh well).

All I know is that my Daddy sure went crazy! He ran around screaming, picked me up and ran outside and honked his horn. When everything was said and done, I will always remember seeing the little guy beat the big guy with a magical mix of determination and imagination. I wonder if they'll let me play football someday??

Who would have thought, my Thanksgiving vacation could have turned into a treasure hunt?! Black Bart (Papa) unveiled a treasure map that has been hidden for centuries, and gave it to the bravest pirates (me and my cousins) to lead us to the buried treasure! Our first clue led us to the "Red Pearl" (aka "The Big Boat") who has seen some great battles in her day. The next clue led us to the wooden swing, then the pine tree. After deciphering the next clue to lead us to another of Black Bart's great ships (the blue one), we were on our way to the booty! We found the x marking the spot where the treasure was buried, began to dig, and....shiver me timbers! We found the treasure! Full of gold beads and ancient jewels, shining armor, and golden chocolate coins (in my opinion, the best find of all)! I really love being a brave pirate!

Puffins, anyone???

I've been hard at work in my new kitchen (my grandpa built it for me) perfecting my "puffin" recipe. My mom makes me take a break every once in a while to make her a grande latte w/ sugar & whip in my new coffee machine, but other than that, this masterpiece consumes me...how do I make them fluffier, how do I make the fruit I use in them taste sweeter, how long do I cook them to make them that perfect golden brown?? I must get back to my creation...

Oh, and here's my cooking tip of the day...

"Add autumn snap to oatmeal by infusing it with the flavors of fall. Cook cereal with a dollop of apple butter and a dash of cinnamon. Garnish each helping with currants, sautéed apples, and a drizzle of hot maple syrup and milk or cream." (Okay, I got that from Martha).

So I learned my first scripture verse in my 2 year old's class..."Nothing can seperate us from God's love." Romans 8:39 Many people are merely amused as I parrot this verse over and over, but people, please listen to what I am saying..."NOTHING can seperate US (me AND you) from God's love!" Do you realize what this means? GOD IS FOR US:) I know there are so many things these days seeming to be against us, like the things Paul mentions earlier in this passage...tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, sword..I don't really know what all of those are yet but I know they are BAD. So thank goodness God is so big and so strong..and He is for US. I'm really not that anxious about all the bad things , because now I know NOTHING can come between me God...I hope you are not anxious either.

Matthew Henry comments on Romans 8 by saying, "God having manifested his love in giving his own Son for us, can we think that any thing should turn aside or do away that love?" That's a pretty neat promise:)

Turning Two

I'm officially the big TWO year old now, and I'm loving it! When people ask how old I am, I don't have to say "almost two", I can just say "two". It's much easier, although I do love to talk. I had a really special 2nd birthday party, it was all about GOLF. That's right, move over Michelle Wie, I've already started my OWN LPGA. I've conquered my first course, Boondocks mini golf and am in training for the next big step, the putting green at Foxtail Golf Course. I can send you an autographed pic if you would like. I'm currently in negotiations with Nike as my official sponsor, they're kind of tired of Tiger and are looking for the next fresh face in golf. I'll let you know how it goes, or maybe you should just flip it to the Golf Channel and find out:)

move over boys...there's a new girl in town! well, not quite new, over a month old now. I finally have a feminine friend, who just happens to be my other best friends little sister. i can't even begin to tell you the things i've already dreamed up for me and my little princess friend, dreams of one day styling each other's hair and playing dress up in our mom's clothes. i've already been practicing with my mom's heels...and I now understand better what my mom means when she says "come on elle, sometimes we have to sacrifice comfort for beauty"...she usually says this when shes squeezing my hair into tiny pigtails or yanking a shirt over my head. but as a soon to be woman (well, "soon" is relative, but I am only two-almost and don't know what relative means) I will answer this call to leave behind comfort to become fashion forward and chic. and i am in constant communication (I call and text her all the time) with my friend "little jo" as to the latest handbag trends I saw in InStyle and who should next get voted off Project Runway...so, don't worry gideon, bubba, and jack...I still love hanging out with ya and know I will inevitably someday be able to beat all ya'all at one on one, but am unexplainably excited that someone will finally be interested in taking care of babies and playing in the kitchen...

The Trip of a Lifetime!

Hey friends, I just flew in from Alaska...and boy are my arms tired:) We had a fabulous time in the most beautiful place I've seen, with huge mountains growing right up out of the ocean. Highlights for me included: walking in the ocean in my rubber boots...and falling in once, going out on Papa's boat to get crabs, swinging and playing in the sandbox at the cabin, and occasional stops at the grocery store for ice cream and candy! We didn't see any moose or bears, I do believe I saw a penguin lurking in the forest one time, though. I caught two fish, they were the ugliest creatures every created and I didn't really like to get close to them. Grandma Midge fed me really good, so I think I put on a few pounds. My Nana and Ga came up and saw us, and we had a "flannelriffic" 50th birthday for Nana with a campfire on the beach. It was a really rough vacation with both sets of grandparents focusing all their attention on me. Fortunately, I was able to find things for all of them to do with me, and kept them all busy. It really was a great adventure, I hope I remember it when I grow up!

So...it's me, Ellie (writing the blog, not it the picture. This is just a random pic off the internet). My mom let's me write my own blog now, since all my friends do their own (you can check out their blogs under my links). My parents are taking me to ALASKA this Friday, and I'm so excited! I will get to wear my pink and green striped rubber fishing boots every single day! I have lots of plans for my Papa and Grandma Midge when we get there. I will take Grandma Midge to scour the beach, in search of shells and baby crab carcasses, and I hear my Papa is going to take me fishing..

I hope he can land me a salmon like this kid. I figure, if this kid can do, surely I can! I will definatley let you know...

summertime

Ahhh...the smells of sunblock, the chirping of crickets, and the fun of endless summer days. We are loving it! Ellie loves to play outside, especially golf on the front lawn, and looking for bugs & "butt-flies" in the back lawn. She has a water squirting slide that she is quite fond of, and makes her mom and dad go down it as well (we have to go down on our sides 'cause our hips don't fit). Her new, most used phrase is, "C-mon Mom, C-mon Dad" with a little motion of her fingers. She is keeping us going, going, going:)

Hot Dogs!!

Our first hot dog roast of the season, in Marsing at our friends, the Barths. Ellie did have a little hot dogs with her ketchup:) Gideon Barth, one of her best friends, is here helping her eat...her ketchup.

Ellie's first trip to the zoo!

We went to Zoo Boise last weekend, and Ellie loved every animal! Even the snakes:) Her favorite was this big tortoise. And ironically, he was the most active animal at the zoo! He walked right over to us and poked his head out. All the other LAZY animals were sleeping. Other favorites included the meerkats, the spider monkey, the "pengins" (penquins), and the "butt-flies" (butterflies).
